invisibleSHIELD vs OtterBox

This is an on going debate between two camps, both with legitimate arguments but what it ultimately comes down to is preference of each person.

invisibleSHIELD
Pros:
  • Thin, Lightweight, Invisible: No added bulk, showcasing the design and look of the device, easily sliding it in and out of pockets and purses
  • Self Healing Material: Highly Scratch Resistant
  • Improves grip: Material gives the device some tact feeling
  • ZAGG Stands by the Product: Lifetime Replacement Warranty and 45 Day Money Back Guarantee

Cons:
  • Installation: Need clean area and some patience and skill to apply the shields
  • Textured Feel: Gives the product a slight 'stick' feel to the touch screen so it's not as smooth as the original glass/plastic of the device
  • No Drop/Bump Protection: Keeps the scratches off but gravity holds its fate if you drop it
  • Flexibility: Cannot remove and reinstall same shield. If you have to remove to send device in for batter replacement, you will have to reinstall a new shield (though can be obtained through Lifetime Replacement Warranty)
OtterBox
Pros:
  • Flexible: Comes in different levels of protection from bumps, dust and scratches: Impact, Commuter, Defender
  • Easy to install: Pop device in and out of the case easily
  • Peace of Mind: For the clumsy, the OtterBox provides added protection for that unexpected drop of the phone on a table or floor (Defender Protected).
  • Accessories: Some OtterBox cases come with racheting belt clips to holster your phone/device for easy access and added protection
  • Warranty: OtterBox offers a 1 Year Warranty on the product to protect against MFG or product quality issues

Cons:
  • Hard on the Pockets: Can be bulky to slide in and out of pockets or purses
  • Hidden Beauty: Hides the lovely ID Design and recognition of your device
  • Docking: Most of the time due to the size and bulk, devices like iPods and iPhones inside an OtterBox case cannot 'dock' on devices like radios or car docks.
Thoughts
Both the invisibleSHIELD and OtterBox products offer great protection for their intended purposes. It ultimately comes down to your preference and lifestyle. If you want scratch protection and like to keep the look of the device as it is, sliding it easily in and out of your pocket or purse, then the invisibleSHIELD is the way to go. If you want bump and drop protection to keep your device as in new condition as possible, and not worried about a bulkier case that hides the device look, go with the OtterBox.
